The Destined One
The “Destined One” is the main character in “Black Myth: Wukong,” controlled by the player. This title was first mentioned by the Blade Wolf trainer in the game’s initial trailer.
 
Appearance:
  • Resembles Sun Wukong, but with grayish-brown fur, while Sun Wukong has golden fur.
  • Wears a gourd at the waist.
Abilities:
  • In combat, only uses stick-type weapons. The initial weapon resembles the Ruyi Jingu Bang but has black ends. Like Sun Wukong, the weapon can be shrunk and stored in the ear.
  • Possesses many abilities similar to Sun Wukong’s. For example, the Destined One can transform into various creatures and defeated enemies. When transformed into an enemy, they can use that enemy’s abilities. Other skills include immobilization, body stabilization, form condensation, and body duplication.
Sun Wukong
Sun Wukong is a significant character in “Black Myth: Wukong” and the protagonist of the famous Chinese classical novel Journey to the West.
 
Related Plot
In the first 13-minute game trailer, he seems to appear in the form of the Victorious Fighting Buddha, wielding the Ruyi Jingu Bang, stopping the Destined One from executing Ling Xuzi.
In earlier trailers, scenes show Sun Wukong battling the heavenly soldiers and generals, as well as facing off against the Four Heavenly Kings.
 
Abilities
Sun Wukong wields the Ruyi Jingu Bang and is adorned with the Phoenix Feather Purple Gold Crown, Golden Chain Mail, and Cloud-Walking Boots made of lotus fiber.
He has a body of iron with a copper head, and a pair of fiery golden eyes. He is highly skilled, mastering the 72 Transformations and Body Duplication, capable of traveling 108,000 miles with a single somersault and possessing the power to transform and grow in size.

A mysterious and sagely old man who guides Wukong on his journey. It’s possible that he’s Puti Zushi, Wukong’s mentor from Journey to the West.
Keeper
He is a guardian deity of Soil and the Ground in Chinese folk religion, He was introduced in the Announcement Trailer of the game.
The Keeper of the Black Wind Mountain
He is a character in the Black Wind Mountain map, located near the walkway in front of Guanyin Zen Temple, possibly transformed from a ginseng plant.
This character first appeared in the “13-minute Gameplay Demo” of Black Myth: Wukong, released by Game Science on August 20, 2020. At the 4-minute, 45-second mark, after the Destined One transforms into a golden cicada, they hear a voice from underground during their flight and are guided to the walkway entrance, where the Earth Deity emerges from the ground.
This character serves as an important NPC in the Black Wind Mountain map, offering functions such as map guidance and skill instruction.
 
The Keeper of the New West
He is a character in the Little Western Heaven map, located somewhere along the path. This character is a strange bird with a human head.
The Earth Deity first appeared in the “12-minute Unreal Engine 5 Gameplay Highlights” of Black Myth: Wukong, released by Game Science on August 20, 2021. At the 5-minute, 23-second mark, after the Destined One battles the Red-Tailed Macaque, they stagger to an open area, where the Earth Deity flies in from afar and lands on a tree branch in front of the Destined One.
This character serves as an important NPC in the Little Western Heaven map, offering map guidance.
Shen Monkey
A Monkey that Wukong saves from a Snake Patroller Yaoguai. The Shen Monkey is one of the Zodiacs and will allow Wukong to upgrade the healing potency of his Gourds.
Headless Monk
A headless monk playing a Sanxian. The Headless Monk leads Wukong through Yellow Wind Ridge through Chapter 2, often bursting into song.
Man-in-Stone
The Man-in-Stone is a optional Character questline culminating in a boss fight that you can encounter in Chapter 2 of Black Myth Wukong. Located in a crevice of the Fright Cliff, you’ll have to help the man trapped in stone recover an item, and then beat him up to earn your reward.

Xu Dog
The Xu Dog is an eccentric healer and is one of the Zodiacs. Helping him allows Wukong to craft Celestial Medicines using Mind Cores that increase Wukong’s Health, Mana, and Stamina.
Yellow-RSquire
A warthog that Wukong encounters in Fright Valley. Helping the Yellow-Robed Squire allows Wukong to enter the secret Kingdom of Sahali.
Bodhisattva Lingji
Bodhissattva Lingji is the true identity of the Headless Monk. After Wukong defeats the Yellow Wind Sage, the Headless Monk retrieves his head and returns to his enlightened form.
Chen Loong
Chen Loong is an old Loong and a Zodiac that Wukong encounters in the North Shore of the Bitter Lake in Chapter 3. Defeating him allows you to start a quest that unlocks the Ruyi Scroll where other Zodiacs such as Shen Monkey and Xu Dog reside.
The Keeper of the New West
The Keeper of the New West is a feathered divine deity of wind who teaches Wukong how to transform into a bat in Chapter 3.

Boss

Erlang Shen
Erlang, Sacred Divinity is a god and the first boss of the game. Aided by the Four Heavenly Kings, Erlang manages to seal Wukong in stone.
Whiteclad Noble
The Whiteclad Noble is a boss that Wukong encounters in Chapter 1 in the Marsh of White Mist, and is the first antagonist that calls Wukong an imposter.
Yin Tiger
The Yin Tiger is a blacksmith resident of the Ruyi Scroll and one of the Zodiacs who can upgrade Wukong’s Armor. Challenging and defeating him unlocks an extra Curio slot.
Zhu Bajie
Zhu Bajie is one of the three helpers of Tang Sanzang, along with Sun Wukong and Sha Wujing, and a major character of the 16th century novel Journey to the West. Zhu means “swine” and Bajie means “eight percepts”.
Bull Demon King
The Bull Demon King, whose real name is unknown, is titled the Great Sage Who Levels Heaven. He is the demon king of Cuiyun Mountain and Jilei Mountain, the husband of Princess Iron Fan, and the father of Red Boy. Later, he is subdued by the combined forces of the Heavenly Court and Buddhist deities, eventually converting to Buddhism. In Journey to the West, the Bull Demon King is described as a powerful and fierce demon king.
His image is often portrayed as mighty and imposing, wearing an iron helmet, golden armor, battle boots, and a lion’s belt. His eyes are sharp and bright, his voice thunderous, and his movements exude a majestic aura that commands respect and awe.
The Enigmatic Taoist
He is the leader of Ziyun Mountain, located in front of an old house outside Luohua Village. Upon first meeting Mí Dàorén, the Destined One learns that his senior and junior disciples in Luohua Village have a type of parasitic egg inside them called “Ou Hail.”
He will ask the Destined One to kill his senior and junior disciples and retrieve the Ou Hail eggs. After the Destined One hands the eggs over, Mí Dàorén will transform into an enemy.
After defeating Mí Dàorén, a snake woman appears and extracts the Ou Hail eggs, giving them to the Destined One. Upon receiving them, the Destined One acquires the spell “Ou Hail,” which allows them to transform into a bug spirit.

Crouching Tiger Temple is the second large area in Yellow Wind Ridge. The area is not that big and has only several enemies, most of which are Civet Sergeant. Yaoguai King Tiger Vanguard can be found here.
Fright Cliff
Fright Cliff is the third large area in Yellow Wind Ridge. The most common enemies are stone guais. Yaoguai Chiefs Mother of Stones and Man-in-Stone can be found here. The Yaoguai Kings Stone Vanguard and Shigandang are also found here.
Yellow Wind Formation
Yellow Wind Formation is the fourth large area in Yellow Wind Ridge. The most common enemies are Withered Corpses. The Yaoguai Chief Tiger’s Acolyte can be found here. The Yaoguai King Yellow Wind Sage can also be found here.
Kingdom of Sahali
Kingdom of Sahali is a Location in Black Myth Wukong. The Kingdom of Sahali is a secret location that can be accessed in Chapter 2. Players can access this area by helping the Drunken Boar and the Man-in-Stone, the 2 characters that players will encounter in the Yellow Wind Ridge region.
